Ruman will not be eligible to take part in any domestic or international events during this period

Update : 14 Nov 2022, 10:06 PM

Country's premier archer Ruman Shana has been banned for two years by Bangladesh Archery Federation due to repeated breach of discipline in the archery camp.

The federation took the action which will come into effect from Tuesday, and Ruman will not be eligible to participate in any domestic or international competition during this period.

“He [Ruman] did a wrong thing, and breached discipline within a month after we had sent him a show-cause notice earlier. We pardoned him after he officially asked for apology but he did foul again,” Archery federation's general secretary Kazi Razib Uddin Ahmed Chapol told Dhaka Tribune.

“He has been out of control at the camp. If he doesn't follow the rules and we allow him, it will leave a bad example for the next generation.” he added.

Chapol didn't reveal what kind of discipline Ruman breached, but a source from the federation informed that he was engaged in physical clash with a teammate.

“He did a very bad behavior. He was involved in a fight. The federation warned both of them before but Ruman did it again,” said a federation official who requested anonymity.

Ruman is the only archer from Bangladesh who won a medal in the World Archery Championships to qualify for the Olympics directly.
