Bangladesh clinch Int’l Karate

A total of 150 karatekas from six countries took part in the competition where 60 referees officiated

Host Bangladesh emerged as the champion in the third edition of the Walton International Karate Competition, organized by Bangladesh Martial Arts Confederation and Jhikorgacha Karate Association, with 14 gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze medals.

India finished as the runners-up with 22 medals, including seven golds, Nepal became third with five golds while Bhutan ended fourth with two golds.

Japan and Sri Lanka were the other two teams in the tournament.

A total of 150 karatekas from six countries took part in the competition where 60 referees officiated.

Six weight categories - -45kg, -50kg, -55kg, -60kg, -67kg and -75kg – were held in the men’s event while four eight categories - -45kg, -50kg, -55kg and 55+kg – were held in the women’s competition.
