A memorable year for Bangladesh archers came to an end with the concluding day of the Teer 11th National Archery Championship at Shahid Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi Thursday.

Teerandaj Sangsad emerged as the champion for the first time with three gold, two silver and two bronze medals, while Ansar and Village Defence Party finished slightly behind with three golds, one silver and four bronzes.

BKSP and Dhaka Army Archery Club were placed third and fourth respectively.

Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Tamimul Islam were the only South Aasian Games gold-medalists out of 12 who managed gold together in the recurve men's team event, helping BKSP bag their second gold of the meet, along with three silvers and two bronzes.

Bangladesh Air Force, comprising only seven archers, clinched their first ever gold in the national competition when Ramkrishna Saha took the recurve men's individual title the previous day.

Air Force however, lost to Ansar, led by Mohammad Ruman Shana, in the recurve team's bronze-medal game yesterday.

The archers will go for a half-month long vacation from the national training camp.

German archery coach Martin Frederick left Dhaka for his country after the tournament in the evening.
