The three-day long Independence Day Carrom Tournament, organised by Bangladesh Carrom Federation, got underway with the participation of 40 players from 10 districts.
Freedom fighter Kazi Mannan inaugurated the competition as the chief guest Friday at the carrom federation hall room, Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka.
Carrom federation general secretary Ashraf Ahmed Lion, treasurer Hasnain Imtiaz Shihab and other officials and players were also present among others during the occasion.
Ashraf said, “We are trying to take the game of carrom forward. That is why we have staged the Independence Day Carrom Tournament like the previous years. Hopefully we will soon introduce a national carrom competition. To add to that, we are also mulling organising an international carom tournament with Bangabandhu’s name.”
