Both the Bangladesh men's and women's team finished their respective group round games as the champion.
The men's team began their day with a thrashing 11-0 victory over Myanmar in their third match at Sohrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur, after which they confirmed their place in the knockout stage. They played their last group match against Fiji in the evening, registering another convincing win, this time by 9-0.
The men's side maintained hundred percent winning record in four Pool A matches, earning 12 points. They earlier outplayed Hong Kong and Bhutan in the first two matches. They will play the runners-up team from Pool H.
The women in red and green didn't have to play their last group match after their opponent Philippines decided to give walkover. They beat Nepal in their first game and Sunday's walkover meant they finished top in the three-team Pool D.
It was Hridoy Hossain once again who gave Bangladesh the breakthrough in the second minute before Asif doubled the lead two minutes later. Hridoy, Bangladesh's top scorer in the event, struck again in the 11th minute before Sagor, Piash, Arafat, Mahadi and Dipro added more goals for the home side.
It has been an amazing World Cup for Hridoy, who was a peanut vendor in his childhood before joining the game of roller skating three years ago. The 15-year old netted a total of 18 goals from four matches so far, including nine against Hong Kong last Saturday and three against Fiji on Sunday.
Meanwhile, at least eight scheduled matches out of 33 ended without even rolling into the ground, courtesy walkovers.
