Reluctant approach from Abahani’s coach former national star Jumman Lusai made the press flock to advisory coach of the team Mahbub Harun after the final of the Victory Day Hockey tournament yesterday. Harun was realistic and humble as usual and was happy to see his players implement their plans.
“As the Army team was physically strong our major plan was to score off the penalty corners and mix long and short balls. I am happy with the result, but I think we should have finished some attacks into strikes,” said Harun at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium yesterday.
Meanwhile, his counterpart Jamal Haider said, “We gradually lost the grip after a good start, the second goal was not justified as it hit Mimo’s leg before it was pushed to the goal, and we also missed our two best players due to injury. Among them Sabbir Rana, the national midfielders’ injury was crucial.”
