Abahani Ltd topped group A to reach the semi-finals of the Walton Smartphone Victory Day Hockey after beating Bangladesh Army 4-1 at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium yesterday. In the first semi-final tomorrow, Abahnai will take on Azad Sporting Club at 1:00pm, while Bangladesh Army will face Usha KC in the second semi-final at 3:00pm at the same venue. Abahani went up in the 15th minute from a penalty corner struck by Ashraful Islam and national forward Pushkor Khisha Mimo scored twice in the 34th and 40th minute respectively. Abdul Malek pulled one back for the Army in the 45th minute, before Abahani captain’s 58th minute goal completed the rout for the title contenders. The final is scheduled to be held on December 23.
