Usha Krira Chakra and Azad SC swept into the semi-final of the Walton Victory Day Hockey Tournament from group B yesterday.
In the day’s first match, Azad edged past Bangladesh Police 1-0 at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium. Mir Mahbub scored the all-important goal for Azad in the 25th minute from a penalty stroke.
In the other match, Usha were held to a 1-1 draw by Bangladesh Air Force. Maksud Alam Habul put Usha ahead in the 19th minute before Mamim Mia leveled the margin from a penalty corner in the 65th minute.
Usha earned seven points to finish top of the group.
