Despite the snub of Mohammedan and Mariner Young’s Club, the two leading outfit of the country’s hockey arena, Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) is all set to the start the three-day long premier division hockey league players’ transfer from tomorrow.
BHF earlier declared that after the completion of the transfer on November 17, the season will get underway from December 16 with the Club Cup tournament. The premier division hockey league is scheduled to start from December 26.
However among the 11 clubs, Mohammedan, Dhaka Mariner Young’s Club and Wari Club have decided not to participate in the transfer as per their previous decision of not participating in any tournament under the existing executive committee.
Ariful Haque Prince, the manager of Mohammedan clarified their stance. “We are committed to not to play any competition under this executive committee. We initiated our efforts to an amicable solution but the federation has not responded. We tried to meet the president, but we did not get any appointment. The federation may start the competitions, but it will never possess the credibility,” said Prince.
On the other hand, Khwaja Rahmatullah, the general secretary of the hockey federation said they have requested Mohammedan and the other teams to take part in the players’ transfer. “We have requested them, but if they don’t turn up what can we do. We are expecting seven to eight teams to take part in the transfers,” said Rahmatullah.
