Bangladesh Hockey Federation revealed that RAB, elite anti-crime and anti-terrorism unit of the Bangladesh Police, has found all the details of the anonymous SMS sender, who threatened national forward Russell Mahmud Jimmy via texts, yesterday.
Khwaja Rahmatullah, the general secretary of the hockey federation, said they will disclose the details in a press conference within a few days. It was learnt that the sim-card used was bought from the Keraniganj sales center of Airtel and the SMS’s were sent from Bangshal area. It was also learnt that the sender sent a total of 10 text messages, but Jimmy disclosed only two or three.
It would be mentionable that Jimmy thought to quit the national team for the threatening SMSs and a BHF later assured that it will take the necessary steps to guarantee Jimmy’s security which prompted the national star to change his mind.
Jimmy’s family was also worried about the prolific striker’s security and the BHF also promised the family members of his safety.
