Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) is planning to host Food Corporation of India for their preparation matches ahead of the Asia Cup Hockey and the Indian side has verbally agreed to visit Dhaka in the middle of August.

The Indian hockey premier league side is expected to arrive in Dhaka on August 12 and play four friendly matches against the hosts on August 13, 14, 16 and 17.

Earlier, plans had been made forONGC and Air India tour Bangladesh to play preparation games, but BHF general secretary Khwaja Rahmatullah said they had to cancel due to scheduling difficulties. “They wanted to come before Eid, but that is not possible for us as we aren’t free before Eid. So we talked to them (FCI) and they gave their words to come after Eid,” explained Khwaja.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh national team is likely to fly to Malaysia for the Asia Cup Hockey on August 20 and play a practice match against Pakistan on August 22. Khwaja said they are also trying to play a game against Malaysia before the tournament.
