Six clubs to boycott hockey

Six premier league hockey clubs, led by defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club, stood by their previous decision to boycott all hockey activity under the newly elected committee.

At noon yesterday, the high officials of the six clubs sat in a meeting regarding their current situation at the Mohammedan club and stated their decision through a press release after the meeting. “There is some misleading information about hockey and the clubs who boycotted election. In these circumstances, we are reassuring all that we will continue with our previous decision to boycott all hockey activities under this current illegal and controversial committee,” read a press release that was signed by officials from six clubs.

Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, Mohammedan’s director in-charge, Shamsul Bari, vice president of Ajax Sc, Md Hasanullah Khan, general secretary of Dhaka Mariner Youngs club, Md Humayan, general secretary of Bangladesh Sporting Club, Nazirul Islam Nazu, hockey secretary of Wari Club and Mayezuddin Ahmed, joint secretary of Dhaka Wonderers Club, signed for their respective club.
