The national hockey players finally got hold of the Minister for youth and sports Ahad Ali Sarkar during a programme at the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) auditorium Tuesday.
The minister set them an appointment on Sunday to discuss their problems regarding the players’ transfer window.
Ahad attended a function on the occasion of the World Sports Journalists’ Day as chief guest where he was approached by the hockey players, who were looking to meet him for a long time. The players urged the minister to solve the problems related to the players’ transfer window.
The window was initially scheduled from July 2-4, but it was later postponed by the provisional committee of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF). The minister, however, said to the players, “As there is a case in high court, I can’t make any comment now. But as the problem is about sports, come to my office on Sunday and I will listen to your problems and will discuss it together.”
However, NSC sports director M Haiyul Kaiyum said on July 1 that National Sports Council (NSC) will release the official gazette of the hockey federation election within two or three days.
