Holders MSC look to repeat feat as hockey transfer confirmed

Update : 26 May 2013, 05:55 PM
Defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club look to retain their star players and succesfully defend their premier hockey league title as the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) has finally decided to hold the players transfers from July 2 to July 4.    The players had earlier boycotted the national camp in demand of a date being set for the pre-season players’ transfer and the hockey federation sat with the club representatives on Saturday night to confirm the date.   After the dates were confirmed, Mohammedan's member-in-charge of administration Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan said they will form a "champion team" to retain the title. Mohammedan hockey manager Ariful Haque Prince is resolute to keep his star national players and already offered contracts to some players.   "We were ready before. We have the maximum national players in our team and I have regular contact with them. I talked to them and hope to keep them for the next season," said Prince to Dhaka Tribune yesterday.   Prince also said they offered Tk1m to national player Russell Mahmud Jimmy and the star forward will feature for the Black and Whites if he doesn’t receive any better package from other clubs.   However, national skipper Zahid Hossain was relieved to finally see a date fixed for transfers and said they are ready to join the national camp now. "It could have been solved three months ago when we asked the federation to set the date. As the clubs sit together to set the date, we now have no problem."   Meanwhile, the competition of recruiting top players among the other clubs has not yet caught the eye as most of them are yet to hold talks with the players.
