Rangpur’s Keramatia High School clinched maiden school hockey title after beating two-time champions Armanitola Govt High School of Dhaka by 2-0 in the final of the Bangabandhu First Security Islami Bank National School Hockey Championship 2020 in Dhaka on Sunday.
Forward Noor Hossain Bishal opened the scoring in the third minute before midfielder Rezaul Islam sealed the winner in the 54th minute to beat the Old Dhaka school renowned for producing many star players in past.
Armanitola, the champions of 2003 and 2007 and runners-up of last two editions in 2014 and 2015, were less organized in the game as their coach Fazlul Islam informed they missed seven regular players due to ineligibility to compete for attending the SSC exam.

As many as 12 players of Keramatia played on the turf for the first time during the final round in the capital hiring fiber sticks from Police to conclude the competition with five wins, two draw and a defeat, informed their coach Md Abu Sayeed, a premier league hockey player who guided the same team to final round five years ago.
Armanitola goalkeeper Suraj Das was adjudged the player of the tournament while Jahid Hossain of Rajshahi’s Police lines school became the top scorers with eight goals.
Dr Dipu Moni, the education minister, distributed the prizes among the winners while Youth and Sports Minister Zahid Ahsan Russel was also present as special guest.
