Oman U-21 hockey team is scheduled to land in Dhaka today in order to play five practice matches against Bangladesh U-21 hockey team as part of the preparation for the Bangabandhu Junior Asia Cup Hockey that is scheduled to take place in Dhaka in March next year.
The first friendly match will be held at Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium on Tuesday while the other four matches are scheduled to be held on October 9, 11, 12 and 15 respectively.
“Junior Asia Cup is also a qualifying stage for the Junior World Cup. Every participant has already begun their preparation with practice matches before us. We also want to prepare our team right way and get good results. The team will get a good shape if they can play 25-30 matches before the tournament.” said head coach Mamunur Rashid.
Rashid also informed that Bangladesh will travel back to Oman in December to play five more matches. Bangladesh finished fifth in last edition of the tournament to qualify for the upcoming edition directly.
