Siddikur tees off in King’s Cup today

Update : 26 Nov 2014, 09:43 PM

Premier Bangladesh golfer Siddikur Rahman is all set to feature in the King’s Cup teeing off at Singha Park Khon Kaen Golf Club, Bangkok today.

The 30-year old from Madaripur is coming to the $500,000 tournament on the back of a disappointing finish in the recently-concluded World Resorts Manila Masters where he ended at joint 57th position. Siddikur said he is excited to be playing in the King’s Cup after recently recovering from a severe back injury that saw him miss several tournaments in the Asian Tour circuit.

“It is nice to be back playing again after my injury lay-off. It (form) is improving. This is my first visit to Khon Kaen and I am really excited. I am pleased with how I have played since I came back from my injury,” Siddikur was quoted as saying on the official Asian Tour website.

“I was nervous as I did not know what to expect following such a long lay-off. I felt something crack when I was jumping and training. I was on the bed for two weeks. [Then] I hurt myself and was admitted to the hospital. I went to see the physio again to get treatment and I started training again to regain my stamina.

“This is what I have been doing and it is coming along nicely. I miss the competitive atmosphere and playing in the big tournaments. I was really sad but told myself that [this] is life and you got to accept this. I saw it as my rest period and now I am back and that is all that matters,” he added.
