Poor start for Siddikur at CIMB Classic

Bangladeshi golfer Siddikur Rahman carded a three-over-par 75 on the opening day of the star-studded CIMB Classic at the challenging Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club’s West course yesterday.

Siddikur’s score included three birdies, four bogeys and two double-bogeys as he finished the day in joint 65th position at the US$7 million event.

American Ryan Moore, who is ranked 45th in the Official World Golf Rankings, led the field after a spectacular nine-under-par 63. After opening with a bogey, Moore shot 10 birdies to take the lead ahead of major winner Keegan Bradley. Current Asian Tour number one Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand upstaged playing partner and world number three Phil Mickelson with a fine 67 to share fourth place with multiple PGA tour winner Rory Sabbatini, Boo Weekly, Chris Kirk and Chris Stroud. Korea’s K.J. Choi, an Asian Tour honorary member, was a further stroke behind with 68.
