Bangladesh golfer Siddikur Rahman made a terrific start in the Mercuries Taiwan Masters as he ended the opening round yesterday at third place, tied alongside Thailand’s Phachara Khongwatmai. Siddikur carded three-under-par 69 and trails early-leader Danny Chia of Malaysia by just two shots.
The 30-year old Bangladesh golfer had a brilliant start to the day as he hit a birdie in the sixth hole and followed it up with an eagle in the very next hole. “It’s been a great day out there. The green conditions are better than previous years. It’s really nice and the set-up is awesome. The wind started to pick up after three or four holes into the round and it was a bit challenging out there. I am very happy with how I played,” said Siddikur.
“I don’t have any expectations this week. I have been working on my game ever since incurring the back injury last year. It’s very encouraging to return with a good round. I have no complaints.”
