Impressive Siddikur finishes third

Update : 21 Jun 2015, 07:54 PM

Premier Bangladesh golfer Siddikur Rahman sealed a top-10 finish in the Queen’s Cup for the fifth time in his last six attempts when he finished third, alongside Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond, following the fourth and final round’s play yesterday at Santiburi Samui Country Club in Koh Samui.

Siddikur had yet another good day in the office yesterday as he carded three-under-par 68 to conclude the $300,000 tournament with an overall 10-under-par 274, just four shots behind eventual champion and local hero Prayad Marksaeng.

The 30-year old golfer from Madaripur traded four birdies against a single bogey in the final round and collected $16,950 for his exertions.

Even though Siddikur, who recently recovered from a serious back injury, concluded his Queen’s Cup campaign in joint third place, he told the official Asian Tour website that he is yet to perfect his game.

“Overall, it was a great day for me. I am still enjoying my game so far although I am not feeling my best. I felt a little pain in my wrist and my body was not in a good rhythm to play. My wife has been following me for the last three rounds and she’s been very supportive,” said Siddikur.
