Despite securing back-to-back podiums in round five of the Gulf Pro Car Championship in the United Arab Emirates in January this year, Avik Anwar missed two races in the following round due to injury.
The sixth round was held on March 2 but Avik was left back home nursing pain from rib fracture.
He could not participate despite being in form.
Soon after recovery, Bangladesh’s premier motorsport driver made his return to the track with another round of back-to-back podiums in round seven held in Dubai Autodrome Saturday.
Avik's remarkable feat in the final installment of the 2023-24 Gulf Pro Car Championship is a testament to his unwavering dedication to international motorsport, representing Bangladesh on the global stage.
Despite facing the challenge of recovering from an injury on his eighth rib shaft, Avik showcased exceptional skill and determination, clinching two victories in the UAE National Championship races held in Motorcity.
He competed against drivers from various countries including the UAE, United Kingdom, France, Italy, India and Russia.
Avik's triumphs underscore his unparalleled prowess in the sport.
His victories, achieved amid challenging circumstances and fierce competition, serve as a beacon of inspiration for motorsport enthusiasts in Bangladesh and beyond.
The grueling nature of the races, with two 21-minute contests comprising 18 laps each, conducted after Iftar and under the lights during Ramadan, highlights Avik's commitment and endurance as a seasoned racer.
Despite the physical challenges, including the need for intravenous painkillers, Avik secured the top steps of the podium in both races.
Avik's historic achievements not only elevate his status as the first Bangladeshi motorsport winner but also establish him as the sole international racing champion from Bangladesh to date.
