Country’s ace motor racer Avik Anwar finished third in the first race followed by second spot in the second race to conclude Round 5 of Gulf Pro Car Championship in United Arab Emirates in remarkable fashion.

Avik had to race with the spare car of the team as the original one had issues that he could not sort out but yet managed to secure back-to-back podiums Saturday.

“Original car had issues yet again so had to race with the spare car, unbelievable results and almost won the race but car decided to give up at second last corner,” Avik told Dhaka Tribune.

“Still could not sort out the issue with our main car so had to run the team's spare car!

“The spare car also had issues during Race 1 due to a failed ignition coil but kept at it from the back of the grid to third place later to be disqualified for a technical infringement.

“Fixed the ignition coil issue for Race 2 and was leading the race fighting with P2 then at the second last corner before the final lap of victory the car failed and finished P2 limping the car back home.

“One thing I realized that even with a subpar car I can become P1 with a great fight.”

The next two races in Round 6 will be held at Dubai Autodrome on March 2.
