Bangladesh pro-racer Avik Anwar clinched P1 overall in Race 2 of Round 3 Sunday in the Malaysia Championship Series 2023 at Sepang International Circuit.
The race had a total of 50 participants.
With the overall standing in the series, Avik is now on the verge of emerging as the champion in the competition.
The fourth and final round of the series will be held in September at the same venue.

Starting at Grid 2 in the multi-class racing event, Avik clinched his ninth podium in the Malaysia Championship Series.
Driving Honda Civic (in Touring Production category), Avik finished the 20 laps in 1 hour and 1 minute with the best lap time of 2.28 minutes at the 5,543meter track located on the outskirts of the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
Avik was tailed by Xie Bayu Jontahan [also in TP category] for P2 overall with a gap of just 1.159 seconds.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune from Kuala Lumpur, Avik informed that finishing first in the multi-nation competition was an emotional event as the premier Bangladesh racer lost his father, Md Anwar Hossain, on July 12.

“Immensely difficult task as one can never recover the loss of their father. I am what I am because of him and what I will be is also because of him. I miss him every day! I was advised by my other family members to not race this round but I know this is the only way I can make him proud in the afterlife. After every podium I used to call him and tell my results, he would always say 'thank you'. Missed that part the most today,” said Avik.
The Malaysia Championship Series is a national racing series promoted and organized by Sepang International Circuit as an initiative to promote and develop four-wheel racing sports in Malaysia.
The series originated from the old Malaysian Super Series championship, which was introduced in 2002 – three years after Formula 1 first came into the Malaysian shores as Sepang International Circuit took advantage of the renewed interest in motorsports among Malaysians.
The series was rebranded as the Malaysia Championship Series in 2015 to inject further interest and excitement into the series.
