Pioneer Super League begins tomorrow

The 20-team Super League of the Dhaka City Corporation North and South Pioneer Football League is all set to be an exciting affair as a number of teams outside the capital made their way through to the title-decider phase. The draw of the Super League was held at the BFF House yesterday.

Two teams from Chittagong and one each from Sylhet, Gazipur, Tangail and Bangladesh Ansar qualified for the Super League phase that is scheduled to start tomorrow.

During the draw ceremony, former national forward Imtiaz Ahmed Nakib recalled his Pioneer League days. “It was a big occasion, we worked hard with a vision to be a footballer, nowadays we lack quality footballers and I believe Pioneer League can fill the vacuum,” said Nakib.

Former national winger Ashrafuddin Ahmed Chunnu, deputy chairman of Pioneer League Committee Bijon Barua, cultural affairs and social welfare official of Dhaka City Corporation South Mehedi Hasan and Bangladesh Football Federation general secretary Abu Naeem Shohag were also present on the occasion.

Group A - Madarbari Shoavania Club (Ctg), London Tigers (Sylhet), Bangladesh Boy’s Club (Ctg), Abdul Hadi Lane Jubo Sangha and Uttara Friends Club.

Group B - Khilgaon Jagoroni Sangsad, Hasnabad Sporting Club, Ansar VDP (Dhaka), Tangail Football Academy and Lalbag Torun Sangha

Group C - Bangladesh Football Supporters Forum, Ilu Smriti Sangsad, Mirpur Sports and Physical Culture Center, Dhanmondi Football Academy and Tota Sports Academy

Group D - Fakirapool Surjo Torun Sangha First Lane, Gazipur City Football Academy, Arambagh Football Academy, Bangladesh Sporting Club and Uttaran Jubo Sangsad.
