National midfielder Zahid Hossain is all set to get the clearance from the Bangladesh Football Federation before taking the field for Sheikh Russel KC in the quarterfinals of the Federation Cup.
The talented midfielder yesterday submitted an amount of Tk1.6m to BFF vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy, who will then forward it to the Mohammedan officials - Zahid’s previous employers.
Mohammedan officially raised objections against the midfielder and lodged a complaint saying they did not receive the amount of fine that was earlier imposed on Zahid.
Mohammedan also claimed that Zahid did not play to his potential. The club though claimed yesterday that they got back fifty percent of the amount.
Zahid handed over the money to Murshedy in presence of other BFF and club officials. “I now feel free and hope BFF will take the required steps to provide me the clearance,” said Zahid.
BFF general secretary Abu Naeem Shohag admitted the development. “Yes, Zahid submitted the money and we have talked with Mohammedan about that. Now, the ball is in our court and we will provide the clearance. I think Zahid will be able to take the field in the quarterfinals of the Federation Cup,” said Shohag.
