The youngest booter in the squad Hemanta Vincent Biswas displayed yet another top class performance and was, without a doubt, the right man to receive the player of the match award.

The 18-year-old, who netted to keep Bangladesh alive in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup, came into the limelight when he got chance to go for a trial in Dutch professional club FC Twente before making his debut for the national team against India last year where the current Sheikh Russel midfielder also scored.

“You know that my debut match was in Goa against India. Coach gave me the No. 10 jersey from that match but he didn’t give me being emotion, he gave me the number because according to his formation I am the No. 10 on the field. I personally believe I proved the coach right,” said Hemanta.

“I believe all the players wants to score the winning goal and finally I did it and I am thankful to all the teammates and coaching staff for their continuous assistance,” he continued, “there was pressure for delivering today as a team and we are happy and pleased to be able to give something to the nation,” he added.

The coaches were also full of praise for the teenager. Sri Lanka coach Nikola Kavazovic termed Hemanta as the next “Mamunul” of Bangladesh. “I told before in an interview that Biswas (Hemanta) is the biggest potential of Bangladesh football. The current generation is finishing in two or three years but he is the next Mamunul Islam.”
