Bangladesh skipper Mamunul Islam vowed to give his all against the Japanese Under-21 football team in tomorrow’s Fifa international friendly at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Mamunul, who returned to the country from Kolkata last Monday night, said there is nothing to be afraid of. “We are playing at our own yard. We have played against a good number of international teams. In terms of quality, Japan are ahead of us but we are determined to put on a good show. We will fight till the end,” he said.
Mamunul said the team have played a number of matches and the understanding between the players are good. “In the recent matches against Nepal and Sri Lanka we have improved match by match. The spirit is there. The players are ready. I assure that the players will give their best,” said the midfielder.
While talking about his stint with Atletico de Kolkata, Mamunul said it is really unfortunate that he has been unable to take the field for a single match. “I hoped that I would get the chance but unfortunately it did not happen. However, I have gained some valuable experience. I hope to use it for the benefit of the team.”
