Pioneer League clubs appeal for aid

Update : 25 Nov 2014, 09:10 PM

The Pioneer Football League clubs, in a view exchange meeting yesterday, requested for financial support and playing accessories for the upcoming season. The teams also asked the relevant authorities to defer the league till the end of next month.

Besides the meeting, an introduction session between the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and club representatives of the Dhaka South and North City Corporation Pioneer (Under-16) Football League 2014 also took place at BFF House yesterday.

Former national captain and Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Arif Khan Joy, who also happens to be the chairman of the Pioneer Football League committee, was present at the meeting and promised to provide adequate support for the tournament.

“I rate the Pioneer [Football] League very highly as it is the place to find out future stars. I will try my best to distribute financial assistance so that the clubs can groom quality footballers,” said Joy during his speech yesterday.

The tournament for the juvenile footballers is scheduled to begin on December 15 but the club representatives requested that the league be postponed due to the players’ JSC examinations.

Joy reaffirmed that an artificial turf will be installed on the Bangabandhu National Stadium outer ground, better known as Paltan ground, just for the purpose of the Pioneer Football League.
