Transfer window opens with most top flight clubs done dealing

Update : 11 Nov 2014, 09:02 PM

The inter-club players’ transfer window for the upcoming football season 2014-15 will open today although the top premier league clubs have already finished forming their team. Among the top sides, Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited are most likely to disappoint their fans as they are all set to draft a weakened team.

The traditional Black and Whites are heading into the new transfer window without any national team player in contention and have also been unable to keep their best players from the previous season.

Star strikers Zahid Hasan Emily and Wahed Ahmed, winger Zahid Hossain and juvenile midfielder Hemanta Vincent Biswas are scheduled to leave the club in search of pastures new. Yusuf Sifat, Ariful Islam and Topu Barman are also likely to depart. The poor financial structure of the club is the main reason behind the departure of the star players.

Defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited on the other hand are on the brink of strengthening their squad with their marquee signing most likely to be that of Haitian international Vaniel Sirin. Besides retaining their old players, they have also signed national defensive midfielder Jamal Bhuiyan.

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, meanwhile, seemed to have taken lessons from their downfall in the previous season by roping in the services of several star national players from Mohammedan. Emily, Zahid, Hemanta, Topu, Sifat and Nahidul Islam are all set to join the former premier league champions.

Lastly, four-time professional league champions Abahani Limited are going to form a better team than last season with a mixture of youth and experience. Two promising national forwards - Wahed and Aminur Rahman Sajib – have already started training with the Sky Blues.
