Mymensingh claims women’s super league

Mymensingh stunned a star studded Bangladesh Ansar 4-3 in the penalty shootout to win the title of the KFC National Women’s Super League at Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday. The score was locked at 1-1 following the end of stipulated time.

Boasting seven national footballers, Bangladesh Ansar dominated the game but failed to utilise their chances that fell their way while their national forward Aungmra Ching Marma and national midfielders Mainu and Suinu Marma were also not upto the mark.

Bangladesh Ansar took the lead in the 27th minute with Sajeda flicking a low cross from Mainu into the near post. Mymensingh, however, fought back and  statrted to pile up pressure on their opponents. After the interval, Ansar looked disroganised and Mymensingh  scored the equaliser in the 70th minute through Marzia after a combined attack. Ansar players failed to go through the defensive atttitude of Mymensingh in the remaining minutes.

Transcom Foods Limited operational manager Kazi Tanvir Akhter distributed the prizes as the chief guest.
