The day could have ended in a better fashion for Bangladesh striker Jahid Hasan Emily. The veteran forward netted Bangladesh’s only goal of the international friendly game against Sri Lanka yesterday to become the highest goalscorer for the national side.
Although there is no official record of the highest number of goals scored in the official website of the Bangladesh Football Federation, captain Mamunul Islam informed the news at the post-match conference yesterday. Emily stated that he has indeed made the record his own, surpassing former striker Alfaz Ahmed’s tally of 16 goals.
