Promising performances in the just concluded AFC Under-16 Women’s Championship 2015 Qualifiers helped six youngsters to attain places in the senior national team that will feature in the SAFF Women’s Championship scheduled to be held in Islamabad next month.
However, the major name missing from the 20-member list, announced by the Bangladesh Football Federation yesterday, is winger Sanjida Akhter who shone in the qualifying tournament. “She (Sanjida) was in the list. Japanese head coach Norio Tsukitate was eager to keep her in the squad but her parents insisted that Sanjida should appear in her JEC exams. they took her home. We have nothing to do now,” said assistant coach Golam Rabbani Choton.
The six U-16 players included in the preliminary squad are defenders Masura Parvin and Khadija Akhter Shima, midfielders Misrat Jahan Mousumi and Lipi Akhter and forwards Krishna Rani and Bipasha Mali.
