BPL football matches postponed

The Bangladesh Premier Football League matches, scheduled for Wednesday evening, were postponed due to unplayable condition at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, which was caused by heavy rainfall. Newcomer Saif Sporting Club were scheduled to play Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra at 5pm while Arambagh Krira Sangha and Brothers Union were supposed to face each other in the second match at 7:15pm. A head coach of one of the aforementioned clubs, who preferred not to be named, informed that he got the news of the postponement in the afternoon, hours before kick off. A federation official however, said they notified the respective clubs in the morning.

It has become a regular occurrence in recent times that the premier league matches get postponed and rescheduled due to unplayable pitch during the rainy season. Almost every season, the BFF sets the league fixtures during this time of the year. Through a press release on Wednesday, the federation termed “unavoidable circumstances and playing ground” as reason for postponing the matches. The two matches are likely to be held on Friday. As a result, the rest of the fixtures will be bodily shifted for a day, which is a common scene in domestic football.
