The Bangladesh women’s football team were placed in Group B alongside the likes of India and Iran in the AFC Under-16 Women’s Championship 2015 Qualifiers which will begin from October 4. The official draw was held at the AFC office in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Bangladesh were grouped with Iran, Jordan, India, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar in the West Zone. Bangladesh will play their opening game against Jordan on October 14 before taking on UAE two days later.
The top four teams of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship China 2013 - Japan, DPR Korea, China PR and Thailand - were set aside from the qualifiers and received direct qualification for the finals.
The remaining 21 teams - 12 from West and South/Central Asia and nine from East Asia and ASEAN - were divided into two zones - East and West zones - during the draw with seedings based on the rankings of the 2013 edition.
