Grameenphone emerged as the champions of the Bangladesh phase of Standard Chartered Trophy, a 5a-side futsal tournament, defeating Epyllion 2-0 in the final at the M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium yesterday.
Champions Grameenphone now earn the ticket to play at Anfield, home ground of the English Premier League club Liverpool.
Shakib netted the opener for Grameenphone in the 7th minute before Suad sealed the fate of the game in the dying minutes. Grameenphone will play in the finals of the Standard Chartered Trophy along with 15 other selected teams from across the world scheduled to be held at Anfield in May this year.
On their way to the final, Grameenphone beat Standard Charted Blue 4-3 in a penalty shootout while Epyllion beat Bangla Trac 2-1 in the semifinals.
