Update : 13 Feb 2014, 05:12 PM

Bangladesh head coach Lodewijk de Kruif and assistant coach Rene Koster sat with the BFF officials at the BFF House yesterday for the first time after arriving in the city on Tuesday. Their meeting was mainly about making the plan to get the national team prepared for the India friendly next month.

After around six months since Saff Championship last year, Bangladesh national football team will play their next game against India on March 5 in Goa. The Dutch duo returned from their Christmas vacation and was officially in charge of the national side asain, informed by BFF yesterday.

“The most focus is that the match against India. We have to talk with the players in a short time to run the camp. Sheikh Jamal (Dhanmondi Club) are not in the country and we can’t use their players but what we can do is to make a short list roughly for 30 players,” said Kruif yesterday.

The team is expected to leave the country for India on March 3 and it was learnt that the coach will have 7-10 days of training camp for the friendly. “We want to start the camp as soon as possible. We want to prepare them and there is very few times to make them prepared and solve the problem,” added Kruif.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has a contract with the Dutch coach for two years with an option to extend the contract for another year. The Dutch coaches want to have their salary issues settled. “What we want is to settle our salary for next three to four months. There were political problems and it is always possible to solve our problem. The last date of solving the problem was February 1 and it is time to talk about it. There is no hard feeling and anger among us. We should talk about it because we are in trouble in our country,” he said.

Kruif spoke to Salahuddin and informed, “I expect they will solve the problem on Monday or Tuesday and our focus is the match against India. India’s match is very important for us and the nation and everybody is eager about the national team. It is also important for us to prove our worth and we are reconstructing the national team.”
