Feni hold Muktis, BJMC win

Update : 05 Feb 2014, 06:24 PM

Soccer Club Feni came from behind to hold Muktijoddha SKC to a 1-1 draw in the Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.

In the other match of the day, an injury time header from Guinean striker Ismael Bangoura helped Team BJMC salvage all three points against Chittagong Abahani with a 1-0 victory.

Federation Cup runners-up, Muktijoddha remained fourth in the league with 12 points while BJMC moved up to sixth place with 10 points from seven games.

Muktijoddha initiated the first attack in the 8th minute through Jahed Parvez but his volley from the middle of the box went wide. The All Reds broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute through their Nigerian forward Agbulu Inalegwu. The Nigerian was lucky to head the ball home after Nkwocha Kingsley’s volley was punched away by Feni goalkeeper Md Nehal.

However, Muktis’ delight didn’t last long as the Feni outfits equalised within five minutes with forward Akbar Hossain Ridon’s header on Ali Hasan’s corner.

Muktijoddha continued to pile up pressure in the second-half for the equaliser but their misfiring forwards cost them. In-form Nigerian striker Nkwocha Kingsley wasted two chances in the 67th and 73rd minutes.

In the 81st minute, Nkwocha went past the Feni defense but Nehal dived on his feet to stop the attack.

Meanwhile in the day’s second game, Ismael Bangoura scored one minute into the stoppage time to hand BJMC their 3rd league victory.

A precise Abdullah Al Parvez free-kick caused trouble for the Chittagong Abahani goalkeeper Nahid Uddin who missed the flight of the ball, but Bangoura made no mistake to head home into an open net.

Earlier, the Guinean squandered a glorious opportunity in the 28th minute, a one-on-one with Samson Iliasu, as Bangoura broke into the penalty area and shot inches over the cross bar.

Chittagong outfits had their only notable chance in the 44th minute, but forward Javed Khan’s shot was saved by BJMC keeper Arifuzzaman Hemel.

The draw sent Chittagong Abahani to the bottom of the table with only four points from eight games.
