‘MSC snatched our two points by cheating’: Maruf

Update : 26 Jan 2014, 06:18 PM

Sheikh Russell coach Maruful Hoque was on fire after his side was held to a draw following Zahid Hasan Emily’s 52nd minute equalizer yesterday and termed Mohammedan’s goal as cheating.

With Russell leading 1-0, Emily restored the parity for the Black and Whites in the second half. Maruful slammed Mohammedan’s national players for their unfair act during the build-up of the equalizing goal.

“Worst football played by Mohammedan’s national players. It can’t ever be taken for granted. If a national player doesn’t respect fair play, what will the new generation learn from them?

“This is not goal. This is one kind of cheating. Mohammedan snatched our two points today by cheating. We were on the attack and our player gave the ball away after one of their players fell down on the pitch. They should have respected the fair play,” said the angry coach.

The goal led to a dispute on the pitch among the players after Russell’s Francisco Usucar pulled Wahed’s jersey. Referee had to show yellow cards to three players to calm the situation down.

Meanwhile, Mohammedan’s Portuguese coach Rui Jose Batista did not comment on the incident, saying that he was not paying attention when it occurred.
