Dhaka Mohammedan’s newly appointed Portuguese coach Jose Rui Capela Batista is scheduled to arrive in the capital today to take charge of the football team.
Club manager Amirul Islam Babu said the coach is scheduled to land in the morning. “If there is not a flight delay, he will land at the airport at 11:00am. We will receive him and bring him to the club. We are eager to see him at the club,” said Babu.
The traditional crowd pullers featured in the curtain raising tournament of the season Federation Cup without any head coach, as Saiful Bari Titu had not been officially signed by the club at that time. Assistant coach Jewel Rana guided the team as Mohammedan crashed out from the quarter-final stage. Mohammedan lost to arch rivals Dhaka Abahani 2-0 in the group stage and were ousted by eventual champions Sheikh Jamal in the last eight 1-3.
Former Nigerian World Cup footballer Emeka Ezeugo was the last foreign coach of the Black and Whites in 2011 season.
