Mohammedan maintain lead

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club retained the lead in the Ruphali Sarees Premier Division Chess League table after crushing Faith Chess Club 4-0 at the federation hall-room yesterday. At the end of the sixth round,the reigning champions have 10 points.

Mohammedan’s Grandmaster Amonatov Farrukh, GM Ziaur Rahman, IM Minhazuddin Ahmed and Mahtabuddin Ahmed beat Omer Faruk, Majedur Rahman, Tofazzal Hossain and Masud Rana respectively to seal the result.

Bangladesh Navy Chess Team and Leonine Chess Club are in joint second place with eight points. Leonine Chess Club beat Titas Club 2.5-1.5 with FM Mohammad Javed and Sohel Chowdhury of Leonine beating FM Debaraj Chatterjee and Md Jamal Uddin, Titas’ FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman Emon defeating Monir Hossain and FM Mehdi Hasan Parag drawing with IM Abu Sufian Shakil of Titas.


In the day’s other games, Gopalganj Chess Club beat Access Group Chess Club 3-1 and Pritam-Prism Chess Club, Narayanganj defeated Sreejan Chess Club 2.5-1.5.
