The Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited players, who earlier boycotted the pre-season training camp for the demand of advanced wages for the upcoming season, returned yesterday after getting financial assurance from the officials.
A total of 16 players led by coach Saiful Bari Titu, who is yet to extend his contract with club for next season, resumed their pre-season camp at their own ground yesterday. Goalkeeper Mamun Khan, Arup Baddya and Towhidul Alam Sobuj were the only players absent in the camp due to personal reasons.
Earlier, the rebel footballers didn’t resume the training after the Eid-ul-Azha holidays as the club provided them no guarantee about their contract money. However, the club’s top officials informed that they will give the 80 percent money before taking part in the players’ registration.
“We will give them 80 percent money before completing the registration formalities and rest of the money will be paid in monthly basis. The money will be paid as soon as possible,” confirmed Mohammedan football manager Amirul Islam Babu yesterday.
Meanwhile, Mohammedan are yet to get any result from their problem regarding the five players who allegedly took advance money to join the club, but later committed elsewhere. The player status committee of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is currently investigating the matter and is yet to come to a conclusion.
