Bangladesh registered their first-ever international futsal victory with a commanding 4–1 win over Bhutan in the SAFF Futsal Championship in Bangkok on Sunday.
The men in red and green bounced back strongly after a 4–4 draw against India and a heavy 6–1 loss to Maldives earlier in the tournament.
Moin Ahmed starred in the first half with a brilliant brace, as Bangladesh dominated possession and created numerous chances, though several opportunities went begging.
Their control continued after the break, but a goal from Bhutan’s Saeid Khodarahmi early in the second half briefly put Bangladesh under pressure and sparked nervous moments.
Showing composure in the closing stages, Bangladesh sealed the match with two late goals. Captain Rahbar Wahed played a decisive role, setting up Faisal for the third before providing another assist for Ibrahim’s tap-in to cap a historic night.
Bangladesh now sit joint second in the standings with four points.
