Jannatul Ferdous was adjudged the best player of the final as her side Rajshahi division emerged champions in the national girls Under-17 gold cup football tournament.
Rajshahi outplayed Mymensingh 3-0 in the final held at the national stadium, Dhaka Thursday.
With a goal and an assist, Jannatul became the player of the match. She caught attention of the Bangladesh Football Federation scouts.
National women's football team's assistant coach Mahbubur Rahman Litu noted Jannatul's jersey number among very few.
"She has potential," said Litu after the match.
Rajshahi's Aleya also caught Litu's eyes. Aleya was adjudged player of the tournament.
"We have good combination," said Jannatul on the Rajshahi team.
Jannatul played on left wing. She opened the scoring before feeding the second goal for Moushumi who also starred with a brace.
Hailing from Joypurhat's Pachbibi, Jannatul featured for women's league side Farashganj last season.
"I like football since childhood. I started playing the game from primary school," said Jannatul, a player of Joypurhat football academy.
Jannatul was earlier called up for BFF's training camp but could not make it to the final list.
She told Dhaka Tribune, "I hope to get the call again. My goal is to play for the national team."
Rajshahi's head coach Jahir Iqbal praised Jannatul for her unique style of play.
"She is a good player. She is different from many players for her own style," said Jahir.
Mymensingh also reached the final of the boys held just after the girls’ final at the same venue.
It was a thrilling encounter as Mymensingh led 2-0 before Rangpur staged a remarkable comeback after the break.
The normal time ended with the score locked at 2-2. Rangpur won the tiebreaker 4-3 to clinch the title.
