Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd agreed to remain as the sponsor of the National School Football Championship for the second consecutive year after penning a deal worth Tk40m with the Bangladesh Football Federation yesterday.
About 5,000 schools are expected to take part in the biggest school level competition of the country which will kick-off from October. However, the sponsors who provided a purse of Tk50m last season added one more clause which is the introduction of nationwide college football.
BFF vice-president Tabith Awal disclosed this information in a press conference after signing a MoU at the Islami Bank head quarters yesterday. "We have signed a MoU with Islami Bank for this championship. They will give us Tk40m for the championship. We will use their logo in the jerseys. They will also help us organize the college championship next," said Tabith.
Managing director of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd Mohammad Abdul Mannan also expressed his delight of partnering the largest football event in the country. "We are very happy to sponsor the school football for the second time. The amount of money we are giving is not the final. After observing the situation we will give more in the future."
BFF senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy, vice-president Kazi Nabil Ahmed, general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag, Islami Bank deputy managing director Md. Nurul Islam and other BFF and Islami Bank officials were also present.
