A total 50 nominees, including president's favorite Tabith Awal, for 21 executive posts of Bangladesh Football Federation was announced as legal candidates for the BFF Election 2024 by the election commission Thursday.
A circular by the football federation revealed the names of two president candidates, two senior vice president candidates, six vice-president and 40 member candidates.
Tabith seems distinctly favorite to get elected as BFF chief for the first time after 16-year tenure of Kazi Salahuddin who won the last four terms.
With two-time vice-president's experience during Salahuddin's time as president, Tabith is ahead of his counterpart AFM Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, a coach and organizer from Dinajpur district.
There is expected to be more contest in the lone senior vice-president's post between running vice-president Imrul Hasan and Tarafder Ruhul Amin, who first announced to run for president before withdrawing his decision to show support for Tabith.
For the four vice-president posts, Naser Shahriar Jahedi, Fahad Ahmed Karim, Sabbir Ahmed Aref, Wahid Uddin Chowdhury, Rumman Bin Wali Sabbir and Shafiqul Islam Manik are the six candidates.
Among the 40 candidates for 15 executive member posts, many names are familiar, including the ones from the current committee.
