Bangladesh beat Bhutan to conclude AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers

Despite the win, Bangladesh failed to qualify for the final competition, having secured only 1 point from their first three matches

Bangladesh defeated Bhutan 2-1 in their final AFC Under-20 Asian Cup 2025 qualifying fixture in Haiphong, Vietnam, Sunday.

Asadul Molla put Bangladesh ahead early, scoring in the fourth minute, but an own goal by Asadul Islam Sakib in the 71st minute brought Bhutan level.

Moinul Islam then secured the victory for Bangladesh in the 86th minute.

Despite the win, Bangladesh failed to qualify for the final competition, having secured only one point from their first three qualifying matches.

They lost to Syria and hosts Vietnam in Group A, and drew against Guam.

Bangladesh finished the group stage in third place with four points.

The 10 group winners and top five runners-up sides will progress to the finals.

Syria and Vietnam are tied at the top of the table with nine points each and will face off in the final group fixture.

Guam finished fourth with two points, while Bhutan ended their campaign at the bottom of the table.
