The second and last tie of the FIFA friendly series between Bangladesh and Bhutan will take place at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu Sunday.

Winger Rakib Hossain is set to be unavailable due to injury he sustained late in the opening half of the first match.

Assistant coach Hasan Al Mamun confirmed his absence through a video message Saturday.

“Rakib sustained an ankle injury in the last match. X-ray and MRI were done. He will not be available for this match but the injury is not severe. Hopefully he will be back soon.” said Hasan.

The Men in Red and Green won the first encounter 1-0 thanks to a Sheikh Morsalin goal early in the game.

Hasan said they were surprised with Bhutan’s formation in the first clash.

“We knew their team (Bhutan), we never saw them play with such formation. This was totally different. We made some adjustments,” he said.

“We came here to improve FIFA ranking. We played against bigger teams before. We also want to win against the teams of same quality or lower in rankings,” he added.

“We adjusted to the altitude and turf. Hopefully our boys will play a better game,” Hasan concluded.

Skipper Jamal Bhuiyan also had a video message courtesy Bangladesh Football Federation.

The midfielder came on as a substitute in the first game.

“Our target is three points,” Jamal stated.

He added: “Bhutan performed well in first match. They pressured us a lot. If we keep clean sheet it would be good for us.”
