Former Chelsea and Manchester United midfield star Juan Mata signed for Australian side Western Sydney Wanderers on a one-year deal Thursday.
The 36-year old Spanish World Cup winner was without a club after leaving Vissel Kobe in Japan earlier this year.
"I'm really excited to join the Wanderers, the only Australian team to ever win the Asian Champions League," said Mata, who has also played for Valencia in Spain and Galatasaray in Turkey.
"I cannot wait to arrive and train with the team to prepare for the season ahead," added the veteran.
"I'm feeling grateful and excited for this new adventure and looking forward to trying to win another championship in a different league."
Mata won the World Cup with Spain in 2010 and was a European champion with his country two years later.
He won the Champions League with Chelsea and the Europa League with the London club and Manchester United.
Reacting to the move, the former United goalkeeper and fellow Spaniard David de Gea wrote on X: "The best left foot is back."
