Bangladesh star cricketers Tamim Iqbal and Shakib al Hasan are set to participate in the inaugural edition of the Sixty Strikes Tournament, hosted by the National Cricket League in the USA.
The Sixty Strikes format is a shortened, faster-paced variation of traditional cricket, designed to be played in around 90 minutes, similar to T10 cricket.
“I will be participating in the National Cricket League from October 4th to 14th in Dallas. I'm hoping to see especially the Bangladeshi cricket fans. I know there are a lot of you there [in Dallas]. Really excited to be part of this tournament and see you soon,” said Tamim in a video message circulated on social media by NCL.
The tournament is expected to feature a star-studded lineup and will take place at UT Dallas from October 4-14.
Leading the teams will be cricketing icons such as Sunil Narine, Dwayne Bravo, Mohammad Amir, Angelo Mathews, Jason Roy, Mohammad Nabi, Shahid Afridi, and Kamran Akmal.
Legendary cricketers like Vivian Richards, Sanath Jayasuriya, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Zaheer Abbas are likely to be seen as the coaches of the participating teams.
