Two Bangladesh Premier League clubs – former champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra – will not be participating in the top-flight league while the rest of the clubs completed their players’ registration formalities by the deadline Thursday night.

The deadline was at 11:59pm Thursday.

Sheikh Russel followed by Sheikh Jamal earlier officially informed their decision not to take part in the league while Chittagong Abahani and Wanderers’ participation was uncertain due to countrywide unrest but they did it at the eleventh hour.

Brothers Union also completed their registration of the players in the final hours.

The non-participation of the two clubs mean 10 teams will be participating in the top-tier - holders Bashundhara Kings, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Abahani Limited, Police FC, Fortis FC, Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society, Chittagong Abahani, Brothers Union and newly-promoted Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club and Wanderers.
